A autarquia de Vila Real de Santo António anunciou no dia 23 de Maio de 2019 que iniciou a obra de requalificação da frente marítima de Monte Gordo. A intervenção irá renovar os jardins e espaços verdes, implementar novo mobiliário urbano e criar novas zonas de estadia. Durante a requalificação os acessos à praia, restaurantes e estacionamentos manter-se-ão em pleno funcionamento. A obra tem uma duração estimada de quatro meses, devendo estar concluída “até ao final de Setembro”.

The City Hall announced on May 23td 2019 that it has begun to remodel the seafront of Monte Gordo. This work will renovate the gardens and place new urban furniture (e.g. benches)  and equipment. During the work the access to the beach, restaurants and parking will remain fully open. The work is estimated to last 4 months and end “late September”.
